What is Permaculture?

"The aim is to create systems that are ecologically-sound and economically viable, which provide for their own needs, do not exploit or pollute, and are therefore sustainable in the long term."

"Permaculture uses the inherent qualities of plants and animals combined with the natural characteristics of landscapes and structures to produce a life-supporting system for city and country, using the smallest practical area."

— Bill Mollison

Why Permaculture?

The Permaculture design process is a holistic approach to understanding the dynamic life systems at work on your site, and putting them to use to optimise the yields that you would like to see or determining what yields suit your site best. We do this by analysing aspects such as soil type & Ph., slope analysis, history of the land, sun & wind etc. Our Permaculture design services can be as simple as troubleshooting a particular aspect of your site, to a full-scale master plan, implementation schedule, and management plan for large scale land regeneration to an elegant back garden design.

Permaculture design can vary greatly from urban, to suburban and rural landscapes. Each climatic region landform and soil profile has unique characteristics that influence the design, the design process is flexible, and can be tailored to fit your needs and budget.

Our Services

We offer you an “On Site Consultancy” tailored to your needs, which can be followed up by a mainframe drawn or animated design and written report. Implementation of the design can be arranged and may be carried out by us or other members that we network with.

A range of different interesting Courses and Internships are run every year, in different venues around all of Ireland and abroad, we can also offer to run a Course or Internship on your property.

Some of the existing permaculture sites we collaborate with are: Zatuna Farm home of PRI Australia, Greening the Desert Site in Jordan established by Geoff and Nadia Lawton and Ecole Vivante in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
